How this was made, and what we stand behind

The plastic-free policy

"Organic" and "non-toxic" get used loosely enough on baby products that they've started to mean very little. So here is the actual standard applied to every item in this registry: organic where it touches skin or is slept on, well made enough to be handed down or resold, and honest about the parts that can't be plastic-free. When we couldn't verify a certification against a brand's current documentation, we didn't claim it. You'll see items here with no badges at all, and a plain-English explanation in its place instead.

A handful of categories cannot be plastic-free by design: a car seat is a federally regulated safety device, a thermometer is a medical instrument, a breast pump has silicone tubing because no glass alternative exists yet. In those cases we chose the maker with the most transparent chemical-testing disclosure and said so on the item itself, rather than pretending otherwise.

What the certifications mean

GOTS
Global Organic Textile Standard. The cotton is organically grown and the mill and dye house were audited for chemical use, wastewater treatment, and labor conditions.
GOLS
The same audit, applied to natural latex, used here for the crib mattress core in place of polyurethane foam.
GREENGUARD Gold
The finished product was tested for chemical emissions and low-VOC off-gassing, with limits set specifically for use around children.
MADE SAFE
Screened against a list of known-harmful chemicals, rather than tested for a single substance like formaldehyde alone.
OEKO-TEX Standard 100
The finished textile was tested for harmful substances; Class I is the tightest tier, meant for products used against infant skin.
EWG Verified
The Environmental Working Group reviewed the full ingredient list against their own health and transparency criteria.
FSC
Forest Stewardship Council. The wood was harvested from a responsibly managed forest with a documented chain of custody.

The color palette is drawn from sun-warmed linen, Gulf-coast clay, and pressed botanical paper: paper, bone, ink, clay, and sage, five colors total, no gradients.

Privacy

No account is needed to use this registry, and nothing here is tracked or sold. The only information collected is what you choose to give when you reserve something: a first name, and whatever else you add.
